The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) Compliance staff recently conducted a virtual training on the required certification types needed for the Department’s Section 811 Project Rental Assistance (PRA) Program.
The Section 811 PRA Program provides project-based rental assistance for extremely low-income persons with disabilities linked with long-term services. The program is made possible through a partnership between TDHCA, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), and eligible multifamily properties. The Section 811 PRA Program creates the opportunity for persons with disabilities to live as independently as possible through the coordination of voluntary services and providing a choice of subsidized, integrated rental housing options.
The training provided participants with the following:
– Basic requirements for certifications
– Identified forms required during processes
– References to other resources for additional, more detailed information
The training did not provide:
– Guidance on other programs monitored by the Department
– Detailed calculations and EIV reports
– All forms and processes required
– Potential changes under the Housing Opportunities through Modernization Act (HOTMA)
The recorded webinar and handouts are available on the Department’s website at https://www.tdhca.texas.gov/compliance-program-training-presentations. The posting is under the “811 PRA” heading at the bottom of the list on the above link.
