The Scholarship Committee awards scholarships to recognize high school seniors and technical school or college students who actively reside in registered eligible affordable housing properties and have pursued academic or technical excellence. These awards are intended to provide financial assistance to student residents attaining their educational and career goals. Scholarships are funded by TAAHP affiliated fundraising events and its membership.
The 2019 Application period is now closed. Applications for 2020 Scholarships will be accepted in the spring of 2020. The application period will be announced in early 2020.
Be a resident of an affordable housing complex which is registered with TAAHP and owned by a TAAHP Member. (Confirmation of applicant’s residency and the property’s eligibility will be confirmed by TAAHP); and
- Have a family income which is less than 60% of median income in the area in which they reside; and
- Have a high school cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and attend a technical school or college/university (applicants must provide evidence of an acceptance letter); or
- Hold a GED and will attend a technical school or college/university (applicants must provide evidence an acceptance letter); or
- Be an existing student of a technical school or college/ university with a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (applicants must provide evidence of current enrollment and current GPA).

All eligibility and application requirements must be met in order for an application to be considered for scholarship awards. If mailing, all completed application packages must now be postmarked by (TBD).

High School Students:
Send an official high school transcript with cumulative GPA including all grades for all classes up to and including the first semester of your senior academic year in a sealed envelope from your high school counselor Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers, Attn: Scholarship Committee, 221 East 9th Street, Suite 408, Austin, Texas 78701..
Technical School/College Students:
Send an official technical school or college/university transcript in a sealed envelope to Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers, Attn: Scholarship Committee, 221 East 9th Street, Suite 408, Austin, Texas 78701.
These items are required for this scholarship application to be considered complete. Applications received without an official transcript will not be considered for scholarship awards.
Letters of Recommendation:
Submit 2 signed letters of recommendation from someone familiar with your character, service, and achievements (high school teacher, counselor, administrator, principal, coach, community member, professor, academic advisor, etc.) Note: Letters of recommendation must be written and signed by the recommender and cannot be a relative of applicant.
Describe your most meaningful achievements and how this scholarship will help you accomplish your goals. Essays must be typed and include a minimum of 250 words and must not exceed 1,000 words.
Please attach your essay on a separate page and place your initials and date of birth on each page of the essay.
Tip: When uploading files, you’ll need to upload them all at once. Be sure all of your files are saved in the same folder/place on your computer. Click the “browse” button, select your first file, then hold the ctrl button (command on Mac) while you select the remaining files.
