Scholarship Information & Application

The Scholarship Committee awards scholarships to recognize high school seniors and technical school or college students who actively reside in affordable housing properties owned by a TAAHP member and have pursued academic or technical excellence. These awards are intended to provide financial assistance to student residents attaining their educational and career goals. Scholarships are funded by TAAHP affiliated fundraising events and its membership.

 

The Annual Application Period is February 15th – May 1st

Who can Apply?

Applicants Must:

  • Be a resident of an affordable housing complex which is owned or operated by a TAAHP Member. (Applicant’s residency and the property’s eligibility will be confirmed by TAAHP)
    • Have a family income which is less than 80% of median income in the area in which they reside.
    • Be a high school senior and will attend a vocational/trade/technical school or college/university (applicants must provide evidence of an acceptance letter); or
    • Hold a GED and will attend a vocational/trade/technical school or college/university (applicants must provide evidence an acceptance letter); or
    • Be an existing student of a vocational/trade/technical school or college/university (applicants must provide evidence of current enrollment).

Note: all students are encouraged to apply regardless of GPA, as long as they are in good standing with their school. The committee will look at overall application when awarding scholarships!

All eligibility and application requirements must be met in order for an application to be considered for scholarship awards. If mailing, all completed application packages must be postmarked by May 1, 2024.

All eligibility and application requirements must be met in order for an application to be considered for scholarship awards. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Completed applications will be accepted on a rolling basis but must be postmarked no later than May 1, 2024.

No application materials will be accepted after the deadline.

IMPORTANT!

High School Students:
Include an official high school transcript with cumulative GPA, including all grades for all classes up to and including the first semester of your senior academic year. If submitting online, upload your transcript as an attachment. If mailing a paper application, include a copy with the rest of your application materials.

Vocational School/Technical School/Trade School/College Students:
Include an official vocational school or college/university transcript. These items are required for this scholarship application to be considered complete. Applications received without an official transcript will not be considered for scholarship awards.

Letters of Recommendation:
Submit two (2) signed letters of recommendation from someone familiar with your character, service, and achievements (teacher, professor, counselor, administrator, principal, coach, community member, professor, academic advisor, supervisor for recent or current job etc.) Note: Letters of recommendation must be written and signed by the recommender and cannot be a relative of applicant.

Essay Topic:
Describe your most meaningful achievements and how this scholarship will help you accomplish your goals. Essays must be typed and include a minimum of 250 words and must not exceed 1,000 words. Please attach your essay on a separate page and place your initials and on each page of the essay.

Supplemental Question:
Have you previously applied for the TAAHP Scholarship? If so, when and did you receive the scholarship?
