Gaston Place is a senior community owned by HACA. The development was initially built in 1978 to provide housing to the elderly (62 or older), disabled, or those displaced by natural disasters. Michael Gerber, CEO, and President of HACA, will commemorate the celebration with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. on May 22.
TAAHP member Cohen-Esrey Development Group is planning to spend $25 Million to redevelop Hotel Grim, a vacant hotel in downtown Texarkana.
We are saddened to report that TAAHP Past President Dan Markson of The NRP Group, LLC has passed away. Dan served as TAAHP’s board president in 2010-2011 and was known as a champion for affordable housing.
TAAHP member Prospera Housing Community Services broke ground on on its Village at Henderson Apartments on the south side of Corpus Christi. The new complex will add 88 affordable units to the market. Residents will have the option of two- and three-bedroom apartments.
The grant was awarded to TAAHP Member Gregory Housing Authority, which is spearheading the $8.6 million project. Construction began in December 2018 and is expected to be completed at the end of 2019.
A growing concern involves the segment of the population caught in the middle: those who may not qualify to live in traditional affordable housing properties, but for whom market-rate apartment prices are getting uncomfortably high.
