Chief Economist Warns Housing Prices and Income Gap Growing in Texas

Gaines from the Texas A&M Real Estate Center, told a group of home builders in the Tyler, Texas area that the increasing gap between household incomes and housing prices is a critical issue facing the housing market in Texas. According to Gaines, household incomes are rising at a fraction of the pace of home prices.

HUD to Allow Private Investment in Senior Housing Portfolio
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will now allow private investment in its senior affordable housing portfolio. The move is being made due to Congress’ lack of appropriation of funds to maintain the over 125,000 apartment units built and funded by the government over the last 30-years.
