The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs’ (TDHCA) application acceptance period for the 2026 Competitive (9%) Housing Tax Credit (HTC) cycle begins today, January 6, 2026. To start the Pre-application visit https://public.tdhca.state.tx.us/htc/t_htc_pre_app.init_entry.signup. Once opened, the Applicant will be required to enter the primary contact person’s email address and the name of the development. The information provided will be used to create a unique URL in order to create the Pre-application.
The Pre-application final delivery deadline is 5 p.m., Central Time, on Friday, January 9, 2026. Pre-application fees must also be received by the same deadline. The 9% HTC Pre-application is not mandatory; however, Applicants that provide a Pre-application are eligible for six points for the full Application if all applicable requirements are met. Applicants that do not provide a Pre-application will not be eligible for those points. See the 2026 Qualified Allocation Plan for specific rules and requirements.
