The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) Compliance staff hosted a virtual training regarding Housing Tax Credit developments and how they operate after the Federal Compliance Period. The virtual training was held on October 25, 2022. The recording is available online at https://www.tdhca.state.tx.us/pmcomp/presentations.htm.

The training focused on monitoring and inspection requirements for developments that have completed the first 15 years of the affordability period. All affordable housing property owners, management personnel, and on-site staff operating a development that has completed, or is nearing completion of, its Federal Compliance Period are encouraged to attend. The course was taught by TDHCA compliance staff and covers 10 TAC Section 10.623 Monitoring Procedures for Housing Tax Credit Properties After the Compliance Period.

The recorded training provides viewers the following:

  • Information on changes to monitoring and inspections that will occur when a property has completed the Federal Compliance Period.
  • Guidance on where to look in the Land Use Restriction Agreement (LURA) for information regarding what is required after the Compliance Period, the length of the Compliance Period, and what is required for the full term of the LURA.
  • Answers to questions about the term of the property after the initial 15-year Compliance Period.
