The Texas Rent Relief (TRR) Program, administered by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA), has $96M remaining to help Texans affected by the pandemic.
Having nearly processed all previously submitted applications, TRR will accept new applications for rent and utility assistance starting Tuesday, March 14 at 8 a.m. CT through Tuesday, March 28 at 11:59 p.m. CT.
Limited funds are available. Applications will be processed in the order received, prioritizing applicants who are facing eviction and include a valid eviction court docket number in their applications.
Since the program launched in February 2021, we are proud to have provided more than $2 billion in rent and utility relief to more than 300,000 households throughout 250 counties in Texas and prevented evictions for more than 21,000 households. You can visit TexasRentRelief.com for more program highlights.
We encourage those who are facing eviction to seek legal assistance, go to their eviction hearing, and stay in communication with their landlord and the court. They can visit https://texaslawhelp.org/eviction-referral or call 855-270-7655 for help understanding their options and seeking free or low-cost legal assistance.
As always, we appreciate your collaboration in sharing this information with your constituent families and households who may qualify for this assistance.
