On July 9, 2024, President Biden declared that a major disaster exists in the State of Texas, and ordered federal assistance to supplement state and local efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Beryl that began on July 5, 2024.

FEMA has now designated multiple counties for Individual Assistance, which allows Housing Tax Credit (HTC) properties to provide emergency housing. A HTC property willing to provide emergency housing for displaced individuals should complete the “Request to Provide Emergency Housing” form at https://www.tdhca.texas.gov/compliance-emergency-housing-relief-provisions-information and upload it to your CMTS account.

Displaced individuals must be displaced from their principal residence as a result of the disaster, and their principal residence must have been located in a major disaster area designated as eligible for Individual Assistance by FEMA. Counties eligible for Individual Assistance are Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Nacogdoches, Orange, Polk, San Jacinto, Walker, and Wharton.

TDHCA urges all owners to update their Unit Status Report so that organizations assisting evacuees have accurate and reliable information about the Department’s Inventory.

Please review Revenue Procedure 2014-49 carefully, and in its entirety, to avoid noncompliance.
