The Community Planning and Development (CPD) section of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has released the 2020 income and rent limits for the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) and the National Housing Trust Fund (NHTF) programs. These limits have been incorporated into the 2020 Project Income and Rent Tool that can be found on the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) website at https://www.tdhca.state.tx.us/pmcomp/irl/index.htm.

The income limits are effective Wednesday, July 1, 2020, and the rent limits on the same date for all new leases and lease renewals (including month-to-month leases).

Owners and managers of TDHCA-supported properties are encouraged to use TDHCA’s Income and Rent Limit handout if and when they inform residents of any changes to their rent. The handout provides helpful information about income and rent limits including what residents can do when the rent goes up. Links to English and Spanish versions of the handout are available in the “Helpful Tool” box in the top right corner of TDHCA’s Income and Rent Limits web page at https://www.tdhca.state.tx.us/pmcomp/irl/index.htm.

If you have any questions about Income and Rent Limits or believe there is an error in the data, please contact TDHCA Director of Compliance Monitoring Wendy Quackenbush at [email protected].
