TAAHP convened a membership meeting to discuss comments and recommendations for consideration in the drafting of the 2022 QAP. The resulting consensus was shared in a letter to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs on July 29th.

The letter requested that TDHCA:

  • Hold more widely attended roundtables over small focus groups for the sake of increased transparency in the policy development process
  • Expand the Proximity to Jobs radius from 1 to 2 miles, to counteract the placement of developments along major highways and transportation corridors.
  • Remove school rating provisions from the application threshold requirements. If not possible, mitigation is requested instead
  • Remove (or postpone) Readiness to Proceed in Disaster Impacted Counties scoring item in light of inflationary pressures, delays in supply chain, and labor shortages
