New Hope Housing announced an agreement with Bezos Academy to open a tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschool at its NHH-Reed affordable housing development. NHH Reed is co-located on Cornerstone Community with Star of Hope.
The Bezos Academy preschool will be in the NHH-Reed Family Center building at 2605 Reed Road, Houston. The school, to be named Bezos Academy Houston – Cornerstone, will feature two classrooms. It will open in fall 2022 and will follow a full-day, year-round schedule.
“New Hope Housing has offered affordable Housing + Services to Houstonians since 1995. We have long believed that linking housing to education is an important key to help families offer their children a bright future path,” said Joy Horak-Brown, President and CEO. “Having a Bezos Academy preschool at NHH-Reed realizes that dream.”
“We’re thrilled to add free, Montessori-inspired preschool to the list of wonderful services New Hope Housing provides to their residents,” said Mike George, President of Bezos Academy. “Too many children miss out on preschool because it’s too expensive or unavailable, and we’re grateful to New Hope for helping us fill that gap.”
Families earning up to 400% of the federal poverty level with children aged 3-4 wil be eligible to apply. More information will be posted at www.bezosacademy.org once the school opening date is set.
