The decision was unanimous. Commissioners in Travis County approve $31 million in bonds that will be used to build affordable housing for seniors in Pflugerville just north of Austin, Texas.
“I think this is fabulous, particularly because we know our senior population is growing, and it’s wonderful that we’re making these available at these deeply affordable rates,” Commissioner Brigid Shea said at a May 21 meeting of the Travis County Commissioners Court.
TAAHP member KCG Development will develop the property which will include 232 one- and two-bedroom apartments, 186 of them will be exclusively for senior residents earning between 40 and 80 percent of the area median income (AMI). The AMI for the Austin area for a single person was $60,250 in 2018.
