The TAAHP Foundation is now accepting nominations for new members of its Board of Directors. The Foundation supports students living in affordable housing owned and/or managed by TAAHP members who are pursuing higher education — including colleges, universities, trade, technical, and vocational schools. We are seeking committed, experienced leaders to help guide our mission and expand educational opportunities for resident students.

Why serve on the TAAHP Foundation Board?

  • Make a direct impact: Help shape scholarship priorities and grant programs that enable students in affordable housing to reach their educational goals.
  • Advance community-focused housing and education: Contribute your expertise to an organization that connects housing providers, residents, and education pathways.
  • Professional growth and networking: Collaborate with peers across the housing, nonprofit, and education sectors while strengthening your leadership and governance experience.

Who we’re looking for

We welcome nominations of individuals who:

  • Share a commitment to expanding access to postsecondary education for residents of affordable housing.
  • Bring expertise in one or more areas such as nonprofit governance, finance, fundraising, education, student services, affordable housing management, legal/compliance, marketing/communications, or community outreach.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment, integrity, and a collaborative leadership style.
  • Can dedicate time to governance, strategic planning, and fundraising activities.

Board responsibilities and time commitment

  • Attend quarterly board meetings (typically virtual).
  • Attend one annual in-person meeting/event (typically aligned with a December scholarship fundraising event)
  • Serve on at least one standing committee
  • Participate in committee work between meetings as needed
  • Support fundraising efforts (e.g., fundraiser sales, sponsorship outreach, donor introductions, event participation)
  • Assist with fundraising and outreach efforts; contribute to development strategies to sustain and grow scholarship funding.
  • Understand this is a fiduciary board role and agree to act in the best interest of the Foundation
