The Austin City Council endorsed 10 affordable housing developments at its Council meeting yesterday. The endorsement is a big step for developers who are seeking to be awarded housing tax credits from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA).
The approval of these developments would mean that 1,000 affordable rental units would be added to the City’s housing stock at a time when housing affordability is waning in the area. The apartments would target the City’s low-income and very low-income working residents with household incomes much lower than the area’s median income of just over $50,000 for a family of four.
The developments endorsed stretch from Northeast to Southeast Austin at the following addresses:
- 11706 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin TX
