On Super Tuesday, TAAHP watched closely for the primary results of all eight Texas cosponsors of the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act of 2023 (AHCIA) bill. Candidates in Texas primaries had to clear 50 percent of the vote to be nominated, or the top two vote-getters will face a runoff on May 28.

Rep. Tony Gonzales [R-TX-23]
In the 23rd District (San Antonio), three-term Rep. Tony Gonzales fell short in securing more than 50 percent of the vote and is now entering a competitive runoff to keep his seat. He managed 45 percent in the primary, with the runner-up Brandon Herrera receiving 24.7 percent of the vote.
