The Ekos City Heights apartments have opened in southeast Austin, providing affordable housing for residents, particularly targeting seniors and individuals needing additional support. This $42 million development offers 179 affordable units, with over half reserved for households earning less than half of Austin’s median family income. Special accommodations are included for residents with mobility challenges, and 10 units are specifically designated for individuals transitioning out of homelessness.
Mandy DeMayo, interim director for the Housing Department, emphasized the city’s commitment to stable housing for seniors and vulnerable populations. The development was a collaborative effort between McDowell Housing Partners and the Austin Housing Finance Corporation, with Asset Living managing the property. Applications for residency are now being accepted both online and in person.
