The Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD) Committee approved the FY2020 appropriations bill for transportation infrastructure development, housing assistance, and community development. For HUD, this bill provides $56B, an increase of $2.3B above FY2019 enacted level – funding rental assistance, CDBG, and homeless assistance programs.
Separately, the Senate Appropriations committee approved the FY2020 appropriations bill for Agriculture, Rural Development, and the FDA. The spending bill would provide $151.7B in total spending for USDA, which provides funding and support for rural development. This is a decrease of $87M from FY2019 enacted level. The bill proposes $3.1B for rural development – including rural housing loans and $1.375B for rental assistance.
