According to a new report by the National Low Income Housing Coalition, a person working full time would need to earn $16.51 per hour in order to afford a modest one-bedroom apartment in Texas. Minimum wage workers earning $7.25 per hour would need to work at least 91 hours per week to afford that same one-bedroom apartment. The report also shows that there is a deficit of more than 600,000 homes that would be affordable to minimum wage workers in Texas.

Texas ranks 20th among other states in terms of cost of housing.
