THE POSITION
SHFC is seeking an Assistant to support the Real Estate team which leads on the organization’s financing of affordable housing projects, as well as screening, negotiation and monitoring of affordable multifamily rental partnerships involving both new construction and acquisition of existing properties. This role will involve providing administrative and operational support, assisting with deal origination, real estate and finance closings; and portfolio management tasks, and ensuring smooth communication within the organization and with external partners. The Affordable Housing Assistant will report to the Director of Real Estate.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Ideal candidates will have a degree in business, urban planning, public policy, or a related field, along with at least one year of relevant experience in administrative support, real estate, or finance. A college degree is preferred, but not required if core competencies can be demonstrated.
Organizational Skills: You excel in managing multiple tasks and prioritizing work to meet deadlines effectively.
Strong Communication: You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
Detail-Oriented: You have a keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy in documentation and reporting.
Proactive Attitude: You take initiative in identifying needs and providing support to the Director and team members.
Technical Proficiency: You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with project management software.
Real Estate Knowledge: Familiarity with real estate finance concepts or affordable housing policies is a plus.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
1. Director Support: Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Director of Real Estate, including scheduling meetings, managing calendar, and preparing materials for presentations.
2. Document Coordination: Manage the flow of real estate and legal documents for partnership activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness and proper recordkeeping.
3. Administrative Support: Provide general administrative assistance to the team, including scheduling meetings, taking notes and maintaining files.
4. Data Management: Assist in data collection and analysis for financial underwriting and compliance reporting.
5. Accounts Receivable: Coordinate with the Director of Finance & Administration to track, collect and record revenues generated from Real Estate Team activities
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary for this position is expected to be from $52,000 to $64,000 depending on experience and qualifications. SHFC offers an employee benefits package that includes paid time off, life insurance, a matched 401K program, and medical, dental, and vision coverage. A hybrid in-person and telecommuting schedule is available.
