Mar 19, 2019

From Killeen Daily Herald

TAAHP member Housing Solutions Alliance celebrated the grand opening of its newest affordable housing community in Killeen, Texas with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The 76-unit community, Hyde Estates, is located in South Killeen. It offers both duplexes and apartment homes with two-, three-, and four-bedroom options for families who qualify based on their income.

The community replaced units originally included in the Moss Rose Community housing community. The new development includes several amenities including adaptive features for disabled residents, a community room, a computer room, two playgrounds and a dog park.

Killeen officials welcomed in the city’s newest neighborhood in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday.

“It’s exciting and challenging for us.” said Micah Strange, vice president of development for Housing Solutions Alliance. “We wanted to build something that was going to be good for the city of Killeen and last for a long, long time.”

Those who attended the ceremony included members of the Killeen Housing Authority, members of Christian House of Prayer, Greater Killeen Housing Alliance Incorporated, Housing Solutions Alliance, Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, R4 Capital, Home Federal Bank, Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas, Killeen Independent School District and LULAC Herencia Council 4297.

The $16 million development began in 2015. The community was named after Genevieve Hyde, a community activist for the underprivileged and the elderly in the Killeen area.
