Throughout Darren’s career, he has been successful in executing more than $1 Billion in total development cost of multi-family housing projects throughout the country. His ability to work with non-profit, government agencies, and for-profit partners has been instrumental in his success. His experience has involved projects that included but not limited to traditional bank financing, HUD, Freddie, Fannie, and loan assumptions. Other programs essential in his success include LIHTC Section 42, Workforce Housing structures, Tax-Exempt Bond Financing, HOME funds, CDBG funds, Historic Preservation, Brownfield credits, Solar Energy credits, and city & county subordinate funds.
While developing multi-family real estate for Paramount Financial Group – a subsidiary of GMACCH and Bank of America CDC, Darren has been involved in all facets of the development process including site selection, strategic planning, feasibility analysis, site contract & acquisition, entitlements & zoning changes, and negotiations with all third-party professionals.

Anthony Winston III, P.E., P.Eng, who is originally from Chicago, IL is a licensed Electrical Engineer and obtained his B.S. in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Power Transmission and Distribution from Arizona State University. Anthony began his career in missile & radar defense and then found his way to the construction industry. He started Winston Engineering Inc in 2015 providing only Electrical Engineering for residential and commercial buildings. Within a year, the team of one grew and began offering full MEP services. Today the firm provides Mechanical (HVAC), Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection and Civil Engineering construction permit plans for all building types but has a passion for multifamily, specifically affordable housing as it can truly transform the lives of those in the surrounding communities.

Bret Dewey, the VP of Millwork & Specialty Products Supply Chain for Builders First Source, brings over 34 years of Millwork Industry experience to the table. After growing up in Ontario, Oregon and graduating from BYU, Bret’s career has taken him from Sales to Operations & Supply Chain in roles both domestic and international (including 6 years in Chile), giving him a rare perspective and insight into the full Millwork supply chain. Together with his work ethic, leadership abilities, he has built a proven record in leading successful turnarounds. Bret is currently focused on managing a complex supply chain to ensure BFS’s continued leadership as the top Millwork supplier in the industry during such an unprecedented time as this.
Bret is passionate about his faith, his family, and BYU sports (not necessarily in that order). In his free time, he likes to hike and take family vacations to visit his 7 kids and soon-to-be 3 grandkids who are spread out across the country.

Jason John Paul Haskins, AIA + NCARB + LEED AP BD+C, is the Director of Architecture at h+uo architects in Austin, Texas. Jason’s professional practice focuses on enacting and embodying solidarity, subsidiarity, and human dignity in the built environment. Jason’s expertise includes multi-family, mixed-use, workplace, and institutional place-making. Participatory design, multi-disciplinary planning, emerging technologies, and data-driven design play significant roles in his process.
Jason’s affordable housing experience spans the gamut of housing typologies, design styles, affordability programs, and funding mechanisms and includes architecture as well as development. Current projects with h+uo seek to explore the physical implications of trauma-informed design and strategies to enhance the longevity of buildings, efficient operations, and life-cycle cost reductions to improve the quality of life for residents.
Jason holds a B.S. in Architectural Studies and an M.Arch from the University of Texas with additional coursework at Columbia University and the Liturgical Institute at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake. He has also been a digital asset librarian, computer programmer, and noise-musician.
