2020 Texas Housing Conference+ VIRTUAL Segment

July 20, 2020

Texas Housing Conference Plus

Hello Friends,

I have some exciting news to share about this year’s Texas Housing Conference.  After detailed and thoughtful consideration of how to best provide this valuable experience to our participants, we are launching Texas Housing Conference (THC) PLUS.  THC PLUS is our unique approach to addressing the educational and business development needs of our attendees while accommodating different participation preferences.  In short, we will be providing both a virtual and in-person experience: one that emphasizes education and business connections, all with the safety of our participants in mind.  Our annual in-person conference, as you have known it, is being postponed to October 5-6.

As we looked ahead, it became clear that hosting our traditional Texas Housing Conference in person in July would not be prudent. Still, we heard from many of you that the Texas Housing Conference is a big part of your business.  For this reason, we believe it is our responsibility to do everything possible to facilitate the conference in any and all ways possible. On July 20-22, 2020, THC Plus will kick off with a virtual event focused on education, critical policy discussions, and virtual networking. Then, on October 5 & 6, we are optimistically planning an in-person conference with all necessary safety protocols to learn, connect, and collaborate at The Fairmont Hotel in Austin, Texas. THC Plus is our 2020 offering that keeps all the benefits of our traditional conference with the added benefit of a virtual event as part of the same registration.

We don’t know what the future holds, but we can make some promises to you.

The safety of our attendees and staff is a top priority. All necessary precautions will be taken to offer you a face-to-face event where you feel comfortable while adhering to all recommended guidelines. That’s why we have doubled our exhibit hall space and reduced our seating capacity for all planned educational programming and other events, while also working with the hotel to ensure constant and thorough cleaning and disinfecting. In addition, we have arranged for all beverages and meals to be plated and/or served to eliminate the need for gathering at buffet lines.

In order to accommodate the uncertainty which may delay your registration, we have extended our early registration rates through June 30th and removed our on-site registration rate this year.

Most importantly, TAAHP has always held that “Together we are One Voice,” and and that continues to be true now. Affordable housing will be a critical component of our recovery, and it is imperative that we navigate this situation as a community. Today more than ever, our industry is in need of our collective ability to innovate and move forward better than before. Let’s bring our best effort for the families who need us all to be working together!

Feel free to reach out to the TAAHP team with any questions you may have.

We look forward to connecting with you in July AND October!

Sincerely,

Dan Kierce, TAAHP President,
TAAHP Board of Directors & Staff

Contingency Plans:
We will continue to monitor the situation daily as we prepare for these events. If conditions require us to take the in-person Conference virtual, we will do so strategically while upholding our commitment to bring all our stakeholders the exceptional content and business development opportunities that have come to be expected from the Texas Housing Conference.
