The City of El Paso is taking a leap forward in an effort to put more affordable rental housing on the ground in the city. The City’s Department of Community and Urban Development announced that it will provide up to $1 million per development in gap financing for developers looking to rehabilitate, construct or reconstruct affordable rental housing for qualified residents. Very-low to moderate-income households would qualify to live in these affordable housing communities.

The City has posted guidelines and applications online. The deadline to apply is July 18, 2019 by 5 p.m.

Those seeking funding will be required to attend a funding workshop on April 18. The workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at City 3 – 801 Texas Ave. in the Thorman Basement Conference Room. RSVPs by April 17, 2019 at 5 p.m. are required to attend the workshop. To RSVP, call (915) 212-0139.
