From Dallas Morning News

Several cities, including Dallas and McKinney, are asking Governor Greg Abbot to veto HB2439. The bill bars cities from mandating construction regulations that are above and beyond national codes. Many cities have passed rules requiring certain building materials, such as brick or stone, be used on exteriors — unnecessarily driving up the cost of housing in those communities and adding to the housing affordability crisis. TAAHP along with the Texas Association of Builders and Texas Apartment Association supported the bill that is now headed to the Governor’s desk.

Founded in 1997, the Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers (TAAHP) is a non-profit trade association serving as the primary advocate and leading resource for the affordable housing industry in Texas. Our vision is to inspire and engage our members and stakeholders to end the affordable housing crisis in Texas.
